Last weekend, KEXP followed up the Seattle broadcast during Bumbershoot with another broadcast from Portland during MusicfestNW. Live from the Doug Fir, we hosted 12 more fantastic bands, including Explosions in the Sky, The Horrors, The Antlers, and Rhett Miller. We kicked off our first day with Swedish group Little Dragon, who stripped down their dynamic electro-pop sound for a unique and captivating performance. Unknown Mortal Orchestra, helmed by New Zealand native and now Portland resident Ruban Nielson, brought its own psych-tinged brand of electro-pop, and “indie” veterans Sebadoh showed the kids the right way to tear up a stage. Beloved Portlanders Blind Pilot finished a strong day that proved to be only the beginning of what PDX and MFNW had to offer. Check out the videos from Thursday:
