Monday News Roundup

  • Guided By Voices have been touring all year, and while they’re supposedly wrapping up their reunion this month, they’ve also announced the imminent release of a new album. Let’s Go Eat The Factory is set for release on Jan. 1, 2012 and will feature the “classic” GBV lineup of Tobin Sprout, Mitch Mitchell, Kevin Fennell, Greg Demos, and big man Robert Pollard. It’s also the first GBV album with this lineup since 1996′s Under The Bushes, Under The Stars. No word yet on a support tour, but here’s hoping!

  • Death Cab for Cutie have a new video for their song “Stay Young, Go Dancing” from this year’s Codes and Keys, wherein frontman Gibbard sings to a nostalgic couple who are remembering their decades-long courtship. It’s a fitting video for an album more focused on love songs than melancholy. Watch below.

  • In more video news, Merrill Garbus’ tUnE-yArDs has a new clip for “Gangsta” from her outstanding new album w h o k i l l. This is the second video from the album, the first of course being the chaotically anthemic “Bizness.”

  • Versatile rocker Ryan Adams is headlining this year’s City Arts Fest, and now you can warm yourself up for his Benaroya Hall performance with a taste of his new album, Ashes and Fire. NPR has the entire record streaming, check it out here.
  • The new Dum Dum Girls record Only In Dreams drops this week via Sub Pop, and the quartet has just released a new video to coincide with the release. This one’s for album cut “Bedroom Eyes,” a jangly lo-fi pop gem. The video starts fairly straightforward, but they wouldn’t be the Dum Dum Girls if something weird and trippy didn’t end up happening.

  • Deluxe editions of albums have been popping up everywhere lately, and the latest in the flurry is the double-disc set from the UK’s favorite garage rock revivalists Yuck. The reissue will feature six bonus tracks, including a track called “Soothe Me” which you can listen to over at Pitchfork.
