Our hearts go out to the friends and family of the Scottish guitar virtuoso Bert Jansch, who passed away today at age 67 after a fight with lung cancer. A founder of the group Pentangle and an acclaimed solo artist, Jansch was a key figure in the British folk revival of the 60′s and influenced a range of artists, many of whom we consider icons today, like Nick Drake, Jimmy Page, Johnny Marr and countless others. KEXP was fortunate to host Bert Jansch back in 2007 for an exclusive live set from the Bumbershoot Music Lounge. Listen to the session here and read more about the innovative songwriter here and here.
