This week, starting Wednesday, October 12, KEXP will be broadcasting from Reykjavik during the Iceland Airwaves 2011 (find out more about our broadcast here). One of the artists performing during the festival is LA songwriter and performer Pat Grossi, or as he’s known musically, Active Child. We were fortunate to have had Pat -- along with bass player and backing vocalist Stratton Easter and new drummer Brennan Rhodes -- stop by the station in Seattle just a few weeks ago to perform songs from his new album, You Are All I See. As you’ll hear in these videos, Active Child’s music is difficult to classify. Grossi’s choir developed vocals can range from a deep baritone to an unearthly falsetto. And his penchant for the harp as his primary musical instrument is unusual, though he blends it beautifully within a lush electronic landscape. Enjoy!
