Every Monday through Friday, we deliver a different song as part our Song of the Day podcast subscription. This podcast features exclusive KEXP in-studio performances, unreleased songs, and recordings from independent artists that our DJs think you should hear. Each and every Friday we offer songs by local artists. This week we’re featuring bands playing at this year’s CMJ Music Festival in New York City, where KEXP will host a series of intimate live performances in the lobby of the Ace Hotel New York, sponsored by Toyota Free Yr Radio. Today’s song is “C’mon Doll” by My Goodness that was recorded live at KEXP and is featured on the Live at KEXP Volume Seven compilation.
And the fall festival season keeps on rolling with our weeklong coverage and remote broadcast during the CMJ Music Festival in New York City. We here at KEXP are thrilled when we get to have our favorite bands perform live for our listeners and one of those bands is Seattle’s My Goodness. This hard rocking duo has been creating buzz and fuzz all over town and beyond with their self-titled debut album. Their label, Sarathan Records reportedly made the decision to sign them two songs into their live set, and if you have ever seen this band, you’d understand why. Part Black Keys, part Nirvana their music is the culmination of their blues, rock, and punk influences and results in a pure and unadulterated, face melting experience when you see them play live.
After they play CMJ, you can catch My Goodness in Seattle at Neumos next month on November 5 with Ravenna Woods and Sugar Sugar Sugar. More dates and info can be found on their website or Myspace page.
Here they are performing “Blackout Baby” live in the KEXP studios earlier this year:
