Following up our first ever international broadcast as guests of Iceland for the Iceland Airwaves ’11 festival, KEXP is proud to present for the second consecutive year the Reykjavik Calling showcase at Neumos this Friday night, October 28, starting at 8PM.
Whereas last year’s hugely successful “Sister City” showcase (watch video here) paired Seattle and Icelandic artists, this year’s showcase will expand the lineup to also include artists from Greenland and the Faroe Islands!
Where else can you hear the Faroese folk singer Gudrid Hansdóttir paired up with Grand Hallway’s Tomo Nakayama, Greenland’s Nive Nielsen with local songstress Shelby Earl, and Iceland’s Snorri Helgason and Ólöf Arnalds with Seattle’s David Bazan, Sean Nelson and Kyle O’Quin?
And yes, we’ve mentioned it before, but this 21+ show is FREE to the public until capacity is reached. Space is available within Neumos on a first come, first served basis. This showcase is presented by KEXP in partnership with the City of Reykjavik, Icelandair, and Iceland Naturally.
