This Friday night, KEXP is proud to present Reykjavik Calling, a showcase pairing up artists from Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands with our own local favorites. This year, the “sister city” showcase continues in its second year and features Faroese folk singer Gudrid Hansdóttir paired up with Grand Hallway’s Tomo Nakayama, Greenland’s Nive Nielsen with local songstress Shelby Earl, and Iceland’s Snorri Helgason and Ólöf Arnalds with Seattle’s David Bazan, Sean Nelson and Kyle O’Quin.
To get you psyched for this FREE concert at Neumos — on Friday, October 28, at 8PM — we recorded some exclusive video during our broadcast in Iceland two weeks ago with two of the artists performing. In a back room of the KEX Hostel in Reykjavik, we filmed Ólöf Arnalds performing a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Mr. Tambourine Man” and Snorri Helgason performing two songs from his latest album, Winter Sun. Give a listen (and watch) now and come down Neumos on Friday night!
The Reykjavik Calling showcase is 21+ and is FREE to the public until capacity is reached. Space is available within Neumos on a first come, first served basis. This showcase is presented by KEXP in partnership with the City of Reykjavik, Icelandair, and Iceland Naturally.
