Easily the most buzzed about band during Iceland Airwaves this year (not counting Björk’s amazing performance of Biophilia), Iceland’s Of Monsters and Men are poised to the next international cross-over stars! The six piece indie-folk group immediately bring to mind other acts like Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, The Head and the Heart and Arcade Fire, but just as those groups are different from each other, so are Of Monsters and Men unique in their high-energy, singalong-inspiring style. Chalk it up to the superb talent of all musicians in the band and the lyrical prowess of singers Ragnar (Raggi) þórhallsson and Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir. Only the most jaded hipsters will resist their charm.
Not surprisingly, Of Monsters and Men were the highlight during KEXP’s broadcast at the KEX Hostel for Iceland Airwaves. A line trailed out the door as fans eagerly waited to catch a glimpse of their performance in KEX’s intimate library space. Fortunately for you, though, you get a front row seat with these videos from the entire set:
