Our second day broadcasting at the KEX Hostel in Reykjavik during Iceland Airwaves ’11 was another huge success. We almost felt guilty bringing five more performances from some of the very best and most popular artists Iceland has to offer -- Jóhann Jóhannsson, who started off the day, is a world renowned composer, producer arranger and performer; the young band Mammút won Iceland’s annual battle of the bands, Músiktilraunir, a few years ago; Mugison is an international star and a hero among Icelandic musicians; Lay Low has been touring in the States and other places over the last several years; and Of Monsters and Men, the most recent winners of Músiktilraunir, have just signed a deal with Universal for worldwide distribution. As you’ll hear from these amazing performances, though, the hype for all of these bands isn’t easily given but well earned. And as you’ll see from watching the videos below, we really can’t feel guilty in presenting so much good music because now it’s all yours to discover!
