We never pass up a chance to get Cloud Cult in-studio whenever they’re in town, and this summer the Minneapolis band was back in Seattle as they continued to tour their 2010 release, Light Chasers. While the reasoning they claimed was to show off a new series of videos made to accompany the recent album, the show they performed at the Neptune Theatre at least, was like a “best of” performance full of fan favorites. (Really, though, Cloud Cult needs no excuse to perform as their fans are always thrilled to see them live!) Their latest live session at KEXP was similarly diverse, and rather than focus on the new material as they did the last time they were here, songwriter Craig Minowa and the group -- including new cellist Daniel Zamzow, violinist Shannon Frid, drummer Arlen Peiffer, bass and trombone player Shawn Neary, and keyboard and french horn player Sarah Elhardt -- played some of our own older favorites and a “lost song” that hadn’t previously appeared on an official album. If this is your first time hearing Cloud Cult, you’re in for a treat. For everyone, enjoy:

I love the changes they have made with Ghost Inside our House. I also love the full band on Step Forward. Basically, I love everything they do.
What an awesome performance! Kudos to KEXP and Cloud Cult - great song selection - got to see Cloud Cult perform in Portland, OR and Washington DC during the tour. Thanks so much! Fan from Maryland.
That felt really good to watch.
