Live Video: Reptar

Halt, I Am Reptar!” Anyone who grew up with the 90’s kids show Rugrats knows that phrase well. The Godzilla-like character — sometimes a robot, sometimes a guy in a suit — has appeared many times during the show’s run and its spinoff movies, and more recently has inspired a four-piece band from the Atlanta area to take up his name and spirit. Heroic tricksters themselves, the band Reptar has created a fun, eclectic, dance-friendly EP with Animal Collective producer Ben Allen (2009’s Merriweather Post Pavilion), and they recently stopped by KEXP to perform songs from it live in our studio. Check out their quirky set now:

    don’t really know them that well, but i’m from athens and have seen them from the earliest house party to the latest georgia theater show, these guys are great. period.
