Live Around Town This Week

Boy, do we have a fantastic week of music ahead. Things start off with a bang as local favorites Telekinesis play the Crocodile with The Young Evils and Caveman. On Tuesday, there’s a great triple bill with one of our favorite bands of the year - Grouplove, joined  by The Lonely Forest and Chain Gang of 1974 at Neumo’s. If you can’t get into that show, you could always go see Ganglians and Young Prism at the Crocodile, which is also a pretty good bet. On Wednesday, Jesse Sykes & The Sweet Hereafter are at Neumo’s, Thursday is a big night out with more local favorites Pickwick, Campfire OK, and Jessica Dobson at Neptune Theatre, Papercuts at Sunset, or The Black Heart Procession at Tractor. If you want to get your mosh pit on, Friday is a great night with Converge, Narrows, and Black Breath at El Corazon. Like Jazz? We’ve got three days of the Taj Majal Trio starting at Jazz Alley, Baths and Teen Daze at Neptune, or a Christmas show of “How The Grouch Stole Christmas” featuring The Grouch at Crocodile. On Saturday, there’s all sorts of folk going on at Columbia City Theatre with the Seattle Folk Festival featuring a daytime and Appalachian Winter Concert with multiple artists for your enjoyment. Maybe the fine folks at Columbia City will just let you stay overnight and see the Doe Bay Session Screening the following day. If not, Other Lives are at the Tractor.

Oh, and Rhapsody is throwing a party for their 10th birthday, and to celebrate they’re having Built to Spill play a free show this Wednesday, December 7, at Showbox. Thao and Mirah will also perform, and KEXP’s own John Richards will DJ. Capacity is limited, and you’ll need to first RSVP here.
