The last full week of the year understandably has one of the shortest lists of new releases, but if it’s new music that you’re after, we’d really like to take this opportunity to remind you that this is the last week Live At KEXP Volume Seven will be available. Don’t miss these one-of-a-kind exclusive live tracks from some of this year’s greatest artists, including Florence + The Machine, Fitz & The Tantrums, Jonsi, Susana Baca, Sharon Van Etten, The Walkmen, and many others! All artists on this compilation have donated their performances to support listener-powered KEXP.
And while the official list is short, there are still a few new releases you’ll want to check out. According to Amazon and Largehearted Boy’s list, Alabama Shakes‘ debut is out today, though it’s been available digitally online since September (and we featured them for a podcast last month). Either way, we highly recommend their kickin’ EP of gritty garage/soul/rock. Be sure to also check them out when they’re live on KEXP a month from now, on Tuesday, January 31, at 1:00pm. Also, out this week is a new EP from UK chamber-pop artist Patrick Wolf and the soundtrack for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by the Oscar winning duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (The Social Network), who are offering a 6-song sampler on their website.
