Now based in Seattle, Grieves exploded onto the hip-hop scene in 2007, and when the time came for his follow-up, he teamed up with producer Budo. Together, they’ve crafted two albums that push the boundaries of conventional hip-hop, the latter of which, Together/Apart, dropped earlier this year. Combining horn, guitar, and keyboard elements with traditional beats and grooves, Together/Apart is a tour de force that shows that these young talents have nowhere to go but up. KEXP was privileged to host the duo for a live performance as danceable as it was emotionally affecting.

Would love to see Grieves and Slug kill it in a song together!
