
- Cee Lo Green spent New Year’s Eve covering John Lennon‘s classic “Imagine” on live TV, albeit with a little lyrical improvisation. After altering the lyrics from “Nothing to kill or die for / And no religion too” to “Nothing to kill or do for / And all religion’s true,” Green was subjected to a torrent of Lennon fans responding angrily. His apologetic tweet, which has since been deleted, read: “Yo I meant no disrespect by changing the lyric guys! I was trying to say a world were u could believe what u wanted that’s all.” Watch the performance here.
- Adele‘s 21 has already taken the crown for best-selling album of 2011, reaching 5.28 million units sold. But it may come as a surprise to some that this is the most any album has moved since 2004, when Usher‘s Confessions, which moved 8 million copies. For a frame of reference, pop deviant Lady Gaga only sold 2.03 million this year, and that’s including her 99 cent deal from Amazon.
- Air is back, with an album entitled Le Voyage Dans La Lune which takes inspiration from the 1902 film of the same name. The album will include a collaboration with Beach House‘s Victoria Legrand, and you can check out the groovy, proggy “Sonic Armada” over here.
- The Knife/Fever Ray maestress Karin Dreijer Andersson has released a new track, entitled “No Face,” which appears on the Blonde Redhead-organized compilation We Are The Works In Progress. The comp is a benefit for Japan in the wake of 2011′s tsunami-earthquake. According to the Fever Ray website, the track was originally composed for a theatrical adaptation of Ingmar Bergman’s 1968 film Hour of the Wolf. Stream the track over at Disco Naïveté.
- Swedish pop duo jj have put together a new, club-ready dance hit complete with a creepy, Knife-esque video with masks and non-English lyrics. The track’s called “VI,” and you can watch it below.
