- Rejoice, The Shins have released new material for the first time in four years. “Simple Song” is the debut single off of Port of Marrow which is due out March 20. James Mercer wrote and recorded most of the music while receiving help from some KEXP favorites Joe Plummer of Modest Mouse and Eric Johnson of The Fruit Bats. While Mercer did receive recording help from two of his former band mates, he has almost completely revamped the line-up. Even without the original members intact, the music hasn’t suffered. Enjoy!
