Tuesday Music News

  • While the recently released Coachella lineup may have shot down Sasquatch! Music Festival’s chance of headlining Radiohead, Seattle fans need not despair. Early this morning, Radiohead confirmed three more west coast tour dates, including an April 9th show at Key Arena. This will be Radiohead’s first show in the Seattle area since 2008 and their first tour in support of their newest LP release The King of Limbs. In addition, Radiohead has reportedly been rehearsing some new material to take on the road, including the newly released digital singles “The Daily Mail” and “Staircase”(via Spin). They will be supported by Oklahoma band Other Lives. Tickets for the April 9th show will go on sale Saturday January 14th at 10:00am through Ticketmaster. So, in other words, cancel all your plans and get ready to hit Refresh.
  • New Jersey indie rockers Real Estate released a new music video for song “Easy” off of their sophomore record Days. The comedic video follows Real Estate’s overzealous street team as they take their promotional duty a bit too far. The video is directed by Tom Scharpling. Real Estate is on tour now in support of Days and will be performing at Coachella.

  • Supporters of the Occupy Wall Street movement have a new anthem to sing today. The supergroup New Party System, made up of Kyp Malone of TV on the Radio and members of the fantastic black metal group Liturgy, debuted their new single “We Are” today, posting it along with a video for the song. The band is not featured in the video, but the 99% sure are.

  • Today, singer songwriter and soon-to-be indie pop icon Lana Del Rey released a digital EP featuring songs from her upcoming LP release Born to Die. Three of the songs have been bouncing around the web for several weeks, but “Off To the Races” might have slipped past the radar of some fans. Born to Die will be released on January 27th through Interscope Records. Del Rey will be the musical guest this Saturday on Saturday Night Live.
  • Andrew Bird has released the album art and track listing for his new album Break It Yourself through a Paste preview. The album will be released on March 6th. Andrew Bird will be playing at the Paramount on April 9th, so be ready to face severe anxiety when choosing between Andrew Bird and Radiohead.
