Radio has always been a notable part of my life. I can’t remember a morning of my childhood when I didn’t wake up hearing my mom turning on the radio above the fridge. Years later, as a Peace Corps volunteer, I kept my shortwave radio as a lifeline; it connected me to the world outside my dusty and beautiful village. Starting my new job at KEXP just over a month ago feels like a perfect extension of my past.
One of the fun parts of the job is seeing and hearing the bands arriving for the in-studio sessions. It’s a thrill to hear artists creating music, and even more exciting to re-live the masterfully captured performances on the Live at KEXP CDs year after year.
