Event Spotlight: Sea-Tac Airport Music Initiative Launch

This weekend, the City of Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport invite you to Experience the City of Music. Join us on Saturday, January 28, for the Sea-Tac Airport Music Initiative | Experience the City of Music Launch Party with free performances to celebrate this new initiative showcasing the Northwest region’s music culture throughout the airport. This family-friendly event is totally free and features Recess Monkey, Carrie Clark & the Lonesome LoversClark, Fly Moon Royalty, and The Dusty 45’s, all performing at the south end of baggage claim in the Gina Marie Lindsey Arrival Hall. Also, those who travel there by train between 1PM and 6PM will hear additional performances by local musicians onboard Sound Transit’s Link trains traveling between downtown and the airport.

Here’s the schedule for the free Saturday afternoon performances:

- 6PM – Dusty 45’s (upbeat rockabilly, swing and jump blues)
– 5PM – Fly Moon Royalty (electro-soul… duo)
– 4PM – Carrie Clark & the Lonesome Lovers (roots, Americana, sass-a-frass)
– 3PM – Recess Monkey (catchy, energetic kids rock)

Starting with Saturday’s launch, Sea-Tac Airport will begin showcasing the Northwest music scene in a number of ways. Seattle music will now be playing in the light rail, at check-in, at baggage claim, and in the gate lounges. Music acts will include Allen Stone, Beat Connection, Fences, Nirvana, Heart, and Ray Charles, among others. In addition, video performances featuring KEXP and other local organizations will be playing on monitors and streaming over Sea-Tac’s free WiFi. Even Sea-Tac’s standard announcements will be music-themed. Eddie Vedder will tell you that Sea-Tac is a non-smoking facility. Jerry Cantrell will tell you where the USO is. Others will include Ben Gibbard, Macklemore, and Sir Mix-A-Lot, whose standard announcement will not single out Bremalos in any way.
