The Kopecky Family Band: six members, five guys one girl, only one actual Kopecky, but all around a tight-knit family of musical talent. Four years ago, Kelsey Kopecky and Gabe Simon teamed up mostly on a lark but soon developed their friendship into a harmonious orchestral folk outfit by adding more friends: Corey Oxendine, Markus Midkiff, Steven Holmes and David Krohn. Last September, the Kopeckys took some time out of touring, playing festivals and generally building their fanbase to perform live the KEXP studio. It’s hard to peg down what makes this Kentucky band so special, but if you’re a fan of Ra Ra Riot and The Head and the Heart, you’ll certainly dig them.
