In this week’s list of new releases, you’ll find a handful of bands you’ve likely heard about first while listening to KEXP or reading this blog. As we’re currently deep into our Spring Membership Drive, we’re asking you to consider all this new… and often free!… music we’ve helped you discover over the years and to help us continue to do so by making a gift of support.
In features like Out This Week, we hunt down the latest MP3s and other downloads, plus many interesting new videos, for you sample at your leisure or load into your portable devices, and most importantly to help keep you current with new music and give you the tools for you to discover even more music on your own.
Just look at this week’s list, which contains some of the bands you probably heard on KEXP first, like Elliot BROOD, Fanfarlo, School of Seven Bells, Plants and Animals, and Dirty Three. We also strive to introduce you to new bands you won’t hear on other stations, like the young and outrageously talented Beth Jeans Houghton & The Hooves of Destiny — you won’t hear her on commercial radio! Or new Sub Pop band Memoryhouse, who will also be live on KEXP on Saturday, March 10, at 12:00pm! And you’ll find a wide array of artists and sounds, from the boy/girl 60’s garage pop of Eux Autres to the glammy rock of Hunx to the epic avant-folk of Anaïs Mitchell and the international multi-genre soul of Nigerian songwriter Nneka.
