Every Monday through Friday, we deliver a different song as part our Song of the Day podcast subscription. This podcast features exclusive KEXP in-studio performances, unreleased songs, and recordings from independent artists that our DJs think you should hear. Each and every Friday we offer songs by local artists. Today’s featured selection, chosen by Morning Show Host John Richards, is “Get Your Gun” by The New Law from their self-released album The Fifty Year Storm.

As the day draws to a close, so does our Spring Membership Drive. We are so excited to hear from so many listeners about why they power KEXP and know that we’re all on the same mission to keep the station where the music matters strong. KEXP is just one part of the vibrant and eclectic music local music scene and we give those local musicians a chance to be heard and a launching pad for them to build their careers. There’s still time for YOU to Power KEXP and be a part of this community that supports one another.

Each Friday, we spotlight a local artist in our Song of the Day podcast. Today’s artist is trip-hop producer duo Adam Straney and Justin Neff, who bring you the downtempo experimental sounds of The New Law. An interesting blend of organic and electronic instruments and sounds, they weave together a dream-like soundscape, bringing in elements of jazz, beats, and eastern sounds that swirl together in a sandstorm in your ears. The Fifty Year Storm is their third album and continues the journey of an unknown hero who faces seen and unseen battles throughout his journey. Find out more about this journey on the band’s Facebook and Bandcamp pages and listen to more of The Fifty Year Storm here:
