Gary Clark Jr. has been a highlight of the SXSW music festival for years. Beloved by local fans, the 28-year old Austin-based guitarist and songwriter is known to rip through blues classics and originals in his high-energy shows with both reverent devotion and stylish innovation, but now his recent Warner Bros. released EP, The Bright Lights, has blogs buzzing and critics raving about a potential second coming of Hendrix or the first genuine blues performer of the 21st Century. Whether this is justified praise or reaching hyperbole, there’s no doubt that Gary Clark Jr. is a driving force and electrifying performer, as many will get a chance to see during his packed Summer tour schedule that includes festival appearances at Coachella, New Orleans Jazz Fest, Sasquatch, Bonnaroo, Newport Folk Fest, and many others in between. We were fortunate to host a special solo performance by Gary Clark Jr., live on KEXP’s The Roadhouse with Greg Vandy. Check out the videos from the session here:
