Thursday News Roundup

The Walkmen // photo by Dave Lichterman

  • Veteran New York rockers The Walkmen have announced the release of their seventh full-length album. Following up their 2010 release, Lisbon, Heaven will hit shelves and e-shelves on June 5 via Fat Possum. The album was recorded by Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, The Shins) in Seattle. Here is the teaser:

  • To celebrate Third Man’s three-year anniversary, the label has released a 3 RPM record containing every single they have released. Unfortunately they didn’t release a 3 RPM record player, so if you want to actually hear the songs and not high speed scribbling, you must slow the record down with your finger.

  • Dum Dum Girls have release a video for “Coming Down,” from their 2011 sophomore album Only In Dreams. The song sounds like a Mazzy Star cover and the video features bandleader Dee in black and white, having her clothes methodically snipped off. Dum Dum Girls have also released a number of tour dates, and though they won’t be stopping in Seattle proper, they will be performing at Sasquatch! on May 26. For more tour info, visit Pitchfork. • The Flaming Lips and Bon Iver have collaborated for a Record Store Day release. Visit Pitchfork to listen to what they came up with and to check out the blood-themed packaging.
  • Cosmic songstress Frankie Rose has released a video for her song “Night Swim” from the 2012 album Interstellar. Watch here:
