Tuesday Music News

  • Fiona Apple has released the album artwork and tracklisting for her upcoming June 26 release The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever do. The artwork is above. Check out the track list here.
  • Dirty Projectors have posted new song “Gun Has No Trigger” on their Soundcloud. The track comes from forthcoming July album Swing Lo Magellan, the much anticipated follow-up to 2009’s fantastic Bitte Orca. Check out the album tracklist here and listen to the song below.

  • J. Tillman’s Father John Misty project has their new album Fear Fun coming out on Sub Pop May 1. In the meantime, you can listen to and download the album track “Nancy From Now On” over at Stereogum.
  • Japandroids have a kickass new single called “The House That Heaven Built”. The single comes from their summer album Celebration Rock. The album title wouldn’t be terribly far removed from the sound of the song. The single will be available to but on May 15. Might be a pretty sweet edition to your 45 collection. Check it out below:

  • Brooklyn art rockers Liars have a new album coming out with a near impossible to pronounce title that makes Mylo Xyloto look like basic English. WIXIW is out June 5. If you “like” the band on Facebook, you can grab the album single “No. 1 Against the Rush”. The album has been described by the band as even more experimental than their past work, drawing more heavily from electronic and sampling-based techniques.
  • In an odd pairing, Lana Del Rey and A$AP Rocky rap side by side on “Ridin'”, the new track by Brooklyn hip hop production team the Kickdrums. The track comes from the Kickdrums’ new mixtape Follow the Leader, which drops at noon today. In the meantime you can preview “Ridin'” below:
