On April 9, 2012, Radiohead will finally return to Seattle. It’s been almost four years since their last visit – in August of 2008, they played 25 songs at White River Amphitheater in support of In Rainbows (check out the setlist here). Then we waited, and waited, and waited. When Radiohead posted their initial US dates in support of their newest album The King of Limbs, Seattle was nowhere to be seen. But at the turn of the new year, they finally announced a Seattle date. Tickets went on sale January 14th at 10am. General admission was sold out within 20 seconds. Of the King of Limbs tour, Radiohead say that they are going darker than just the “new album plus greatest hits” formula. The band says that their selection of songs will be more attuned to the sound and nature of The King of Limbs. This will even include some new songs that haven’t been recorded in studio yet.
While The King of Limbs only held 8 tracks, Radiohead has continued to write and record material since its release. The “Supercollider”/”The Butcher” single was released several months after King of Limbs and the “The Daily Mail”/”Staircase” single was released only several months ago. According to setlists from prior dates on the tour, Radiohead has also been playing new unrecorded songs including “Cut A Hole” and “Identikit”, as well as their fantastic 2009 single “These Are My Twisted Words”.
It’s not often that the kings of alternative music come by the Emerald City, so here at KEXP, we are making an event of it. Today, we will be playing copious amounts of Radiohead to help you prep for this sold out show. Below, we have a small collection of Radiohead videos and live footage for songs that have been played on the King of Limbs tour, starting with the notoriously danceable “Lotus Flower” video. Enjoy the show!
