All Shins fans, rejoice. The Shins‘ frontman James Mercer is raring to go. Last Friday, during an exclusive performance at the Moore Theatre, put on by KEXP and Starbucks, Mercer said after set opener,”Kissing the Lipless”, “This is the first time we’ve played a show before 6pm in ages. It’s good, though. I feel fit.” With quips, licks, and lyrics to boot, The Shins played a fantastic 70 minute set, featuring six songs from their new album Port of Morrow, and a handful of tracks from each of their prior releases, including an extended version of “Sleeping Lessons” as a closer. A fitter, healthier James Mercer and his new band — featuring Jessica Dobson, Richard Swift Yuuki Matthews, and Joe Plummer — hit the road starting this weekend and after a bunch of dates across the country, return to the Northwest for the Sasquatch! Music Festival on Memorial Day Weekend. While you’re waiting, check out some of the great shots we took at the show!
