Tuesday Music News

  • Fiona Apple is coming back to Seattle! July 25, 2012, she will play a show at the Paramount in support of her new album, The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever do. STG has not listed when the tickets will go on sale yet, but based on other tour stops, I’m guessing it will be around or after April 20. Check the STG website for more details.
  • No, Jack White still hasn’t released any new White Stripes material, but yet another live DVD will soon be available to those that subscribe to the Third Man Vault. Live Under New Zealand Lights will feature footage of the band from 2000 and 2003.

  • What?! John Mayer recently posted an instrumental blues cover of “Video Games”, the breakout single by Lana Del Rey. What is the point of this motion? No one knows. Regardless, it’s kind of pretty. Check it out below:

  • A first taste of the new Aesop Rock album is now up on Soundcloud. “Zero Dark Thirty” is the first single from July album Skelethon, and is just as all over the place as his classics. Listen and download below:

  • James Murphy recently spun a set for British Internet TV show Boiler Room, which you can watch here. He will be playing a DJ set at Sasquatch! this year, so if you want a taste of his DJ preferences, you’ll want to check this out.
