Goths In Trees Day has finally descended upon us, like Peter Murphy descending on stage during a Bauhaus concert. With Robert Smith of The Cure turning 53 years old tomorrow, and Earth Day being celebrated on Sunday, KEXP has decided to honor BOTH these annual events at once with goth music, odes to trees and the earth, and new artists inspired by our birthday boy and the genre he helped popularize.
And we invite you to celebrate with us! Share your own goth photos via social media. On Twitter or Instagram, you can use the hashtag #GothsinTrees and tag us at @KEXP. We also invite you to tag us on Facebook, and on Tumblr with #KEXP.
The best goth photo will receive a set of two limited edition 2LP sets from The Cure, courtesy of Rhino Records! The winner will get the remastered 2LP Disintegration, their 1989 classic, and their 2LP set Entreat Plus, which is being released tomorrow for Record Store Day! You’ve also got a chance to win these sets if you subscribe to the DJ playlists of John, Cheryl, or Kevin!
Need some inspiration? Check out our staff and DJs dressed as Goths in Trees below, and stay tuned for more photos on the KEXP Blog later today!
