For the second edition of the Little Big Show series, presented by KEXP + Starbucks + STG, the Neptune Theatre hosted Seattle band Poor Moon and East Coast indie rock group Real Estate for a wonderful laid back evening of music. Best of all, this show took 100% of the proceeds (over ten thousands dollars) and gave it to local non-profit Coyote Central.
Host DJ El Toro:
Poor Moon is Christian Wargo and Casey Wescott of Fleet Foxes, joined by Ian and Peter Murray. The band played most of the tracks off of their debut EP on Sub Pop Records, Illusion. Each member of the band played at least four different instruments, and the diverse sound of their recorded work came out in full effect on the stage.
As Real Estate took the stage, the venue packed up almost to the brim. Playing nearly the entire new record Days, the band matched their recorded sound identically and wowed the crowd with their synchronicity. Everything on stage felt organic and perfectly crafted. Live, each of the intertwining guitar parts and bass lines were even more surprising than on the record.
With room to dance in front of the stage and room to sit back and enjoy the show on the balcony, the return of Little Big Show at the Neptune Theatre was an easy success.
The next edition of Little Big Show will happen on July 28th with Dum Dum Girls and Craft Spells.
