Australian psych-rock band Pond stopped in earlier this month to play a set before their Sunset show the same night. Their performance at SXSW only a week or two before was hailed as one of the best of the bunch, and it’s plain to see here how inviting Pond’s live setup is. Pond’s sound is cleaner and crisper live, and it’s easier to hear all of the integration between guitar and keyboard and otherwise. In short, their brief set at KEXP is a great testament to Pond’s live show, and you should definitely watch it.
If you are unfamiliar with the band, Pond features two members of Australian psychedelic act Tame Impala, but hosts a looser, more rocking vibe. Their newest release, Beards, Wives, Denim, draws on vintage Brit-pop and throws in experimental texture to make some seriously gorgeous tunes. The album was released earlier this year and the band has already made their way through the US on tour.
With their excellent performance at SXSW and excellent new record, Pond should see some growth happen this year. But for now, check out their performance at KEXP from earlier this month:
