Thursday Music News

  • Today’s featured artist on our Song of the Day podcast, Best Coast, stopped by Letterman last night to play the title track off new record The Only Place! The performance is delightful. If you were thinking about going to see them next Tuesday at the Neptune, perhaps this will convince you to buy your tickets now.

  • Kevin Shields and crew are making quite the comeback in the next two years. While the My Bloody Valentine reissues will finally come out this year, the band will begin playing together again, as the band has announced three dates in Japan in February of 2013. We can only hope they’ll visit this side of the Pacific, too.

  • Diplo has released another track from his forthcoming new EP Express Yourself. “Set It Off” starts slow and emotional, then builds to a tropical break that bears no subtle semblance to his Major Lazer track “Pon De Floor”. Regardless, it’s another EDM dance floor banger. Grab Express Yourself June 12 and listen to “Set It Off” below:

  • The xx has been hinting at new tracks on their website for a while now, but with a short string of shows in the UK, Consequence of Sound caught some great footage of a new track. The band has said that the new album will be more “clubby” and this snippet of a track definitely supports that claim. While the video is in low quality, it’s enough to get me excited about the new album.

  • Lemonade is just about to release their new album Diver on May 29. But to keep us entertained until then, the band has dropped a video for the lead single off the album, “Neptune”. The track is sultry beyond words, and the video echoes that sultriness (that being said, it is a bit risque,). Listen to the single below and check out the video here.
