Even if you’re not familiar with his solo work, you’re sure to know some of the seminal 70’s and 80’s art/punk bands Barry Adamson has been part of during his career: Magazine, Buzzcocks, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Iggy Pop, and The Gun Club. Going on 35 years, Adamson’s storied career features as wide a range of influences as it does collaborators (like David Lynch). I Will Set You Free, Adamson’s most recent solo LP — his tenth, in fact — is a mix of atmospheric pop songs, soulful ballads and pumping funk, unified by his distinctive deep croon.
