Tuesday Music News

  • Handsome Furs may have called it quits, but member Dan Boeckner has started a new band with the help of Britt Daniel of Spoon and Sam Brown of New Bomb Turks. The band will called themselves Divine Fits and will release a record on Merge later this year.
  • Yeasayer have announced a new record that includes new single “Henrietta.” Fragrant World will be out August 21 on Secretly Canadian . The band has also released a short string of tour dates, but none of them come near the Northwest yet! Listen to “Henrietta” again below or grab it here:

  • The xx have been keeping our mouths watering with bits and pieces of new tracks from their UK shows of the past month, but today, they are finally giving North America some love. The xx will be back in Seattle July 25 to play Showbox at the Market. Tickets go on sale Friday! Hopefully, this means we will see a new record out this summer!
  • Lemonade has a new record out May 29 on True Panther Records, but to give you a taste before it drops, the full album is streaming online. If you like what you hear, drop by the True Panther website and you can grab the pre-order only clear blue vinyl version of the album. You can listen to it all below. Start with “Neptune”, “Ice Water”, and “Big Changes”.

  • It’s no secret that Sleigh Bells love classic metal imagery, but with the new video for Reign of Terror cut “Demons,” co-directed by Derek Miller himself, the band goes all out. The video is cut from live footage filmed in several different cities along their path of destruction this last spring. Thus, you can expect lots of pointy guitar, head-banging, and flashing light – it’s great.

  • Peter Gabriel is celebrating the 25th anniversary of his wonderful album So by going out on tour with the So tracks in focus. While he isn’t coming to Seattle, you might want to check the website in case you don’t want to miss this rare performance.
