  • Seattle electronic band Beat Connection has debuted the first single from their upcoming full length release Palace Garden. “Palace Garden, 4am” sees the band going in a wonderful new direction, complete with vibrant live drums and Tom Eddy’s gorgeous vocals. Palace Garden will be out June 19 on Moshi Moshi/Tenderage Records. See them at Sasquatch! this weekend and listen to “Palace Garden, 4am” below:

  • Beck fans can rejoice, not only because they get to see him this weekend at Sasquatch! but because he is finally recording a new record. Beck is releasing a single through Jack White’s Blue Series on Third Man records on May 28. “I Just Started Hating Some People Today” and “Blue Randy” both take a Nashville turn on Beck’s style. You can listen to clips of each on Third Man’s website now. More news about Beck’s new full-length to come soon (hopefully).

  • In a bit of wonderful news this week, doctors of soul legend Bobby Womack have performed surgery and announced that Womack is free of cancer. Womack was diagnosed with colon cancer in March, but after the recent operation, doctors have given him the all-clear. Womack’s new record The Bravest Man In The Universe, featuring “Please Forgive My Heart,” will be out June 11 through XL Recordings.

  • Well that didn’t take long. Damon Albarn has halted work on the new Blur record, in the middle of recording sessions, because he has problems with the rest of the band. Blur is slated to play at the Olympics this summer and play a string of other shows, but as always, no one can tell about the new album. If they ever finish, we’ll let you know.
  • Childish Gambino (also at Sasquatch! this weekend) has dropped another tagteam track, this time with Das Racist member Heems. The collaboration is solid, and the track is one of Glover’s strongest efforts yet. “Tell Me” feels chilled out, like Glover isn’t trying to prove anything, but just letting it come easy. You can listen to a radio rip over at Pigeons and Planes now.
