Poised, tender, and silvery, Poliça’s refreshing blend of indie rock and R&B is both laid-back and urgent, and it’s this dichotomy that drives their slinky and fluid tunes. Stripped of the chilling, 80s-esque production that permeates their debut, Give You The Ghost, the band relies on their rhythmic sensibilities more than ever in this live session. Backed by a strong bass presence and not one, but two drummers, singer Channy Leaneagh glides her voice over her bandmates’ locked-in groove. The result is a sensual, chilled out set of songs that have made Poliça one of the year’s most talked-about new bands.
