Wussy perform in the Northwest for the first time ever! / photo from SXSW by Jim Bennett
There’s something for just about anyone this week and a ton of great local choices. On Monday night, things get awfully loud at the Crocodile with A Place To Bury Strangers, This Will Destroy You, and Dusted, while some of our favorite Canadian’s - Japandroids hit the stage at Neumo’s. Tuesday night, Posse, Big Eyes, and Battle Stations play a Free show at Chop Suey, Lemonade and Le1f are at Barboza. Tinariwen, Y La Bamba, Kid Hops, Piers Faccini are all at Showbox at the Market. Japanther, TacocaT, and The Pharmacy are at Rendezvous. Wednesday, Maps & Atlases, The Big Sleep, and Hands are at Crocodile, and Bonnie Prince Billy plays a Free show at Sonic Boom Records in Ballard. Thursday night, Tomten, Curious Mystery, and Posse are at Columbia City Theater, there’s a crazy show at Marymoor Park in Redmond with Primus, a Gigs4Good Benefit at the Triple Door with Lemolo, Noah Gundersen, Matt & Mike Gervais, Big Sur, Ghosts I’ve Met, Sons Of Warren Oates, Hannalee, and Brad Loomis. It’s also the 1st of 4 days at Jazz Alley with “All We Are Saying: Guitarists Exploring The Music of John Lennon” w/Bill Frisell, Tony Scherr, Greg Leisz, and Kenny Wollesen. There are some cool local shows on Friday night with Wussy, Tea Cozies, and The Purrs at Barboza, Rebecca Gates, Perhapst, and Lesli Wood at Sunset Tavern, and Posse, Out On The Streets, and Jaguar Paw at Blue Moon. Still not enough choices? How about John Fogerty at Chateau St. Michelle in Woodinville on Saturday, followed up by My Goodness, The Young Evils, and Dude York at Neumo’s. Rock not your thing? Check out Sol, XV, and The Physics at Showbox at the Market, or Brite Futures/Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head (Last Show!) at Vera Project. On Sunday, there’s a killer show at Showbox at the Market with The Dandy Warhols, 1776, and Sleepy Sun. And also, Young Evils, D.evolution.Aires, and Red Jacket Mine play a Free show at High Dive.
