Every summer has a soundtrack. It’s usually composed of old favorites (The Beach Boys), that inescapable pop song (anything on the radio), and one band that you discover and dive headfirst into. Guards could very well be that band this summer. Ever since the release of their debut EP in July 2010, the California folk-pop quartet has been making waves with their sunny and majestic sound. Counting Chairlift’s Caroline Polachek and Cults’ Madeline Follin (sister of singer Richie James Follin) among their collaborators, Guards’ warm vibes are a breath of fresh air to start summer off.
