It’s hard to believe that the Canadian duo Purity Ring has yet to release an album. Based merely on the 2011 single “Ungirthed,” they’ve come through the NW several times already: on tour with Neon Indian and at Bumbershoot last year, and at Sasquatch! this year. They’ve been in heavy rotation on independent and alternative stations around the country, as well as on satellite radio, and yet their debut LP isn’t due for over a month from now. On July 24th, 4AD will finally release Shrines, and the Edmonton, Alberta, raised and Montreal based Megan James and Corin Roddick will finally graduate from buzz worthy bands to household names... or at least Purity Ring will.
And we’re not saying all of this just to keep you all hot bothered. Today, KEXP premieres another new song from the album, “Fineshrine,” available here and also as a bonus Song of the Day podcast. This should keep you busy for the next 34 days.
In the meantime, you can find out more about the band on their website and follow them on their Facebook page.
