I’m not going to lie to you, I had no idea which guy in the room was Yann Tiersen. In my defense, I’ve been playing him for years now and the room was just full of really talented French musicians of all ages and styles. From the beginning of their in-studio session, they all played their parts perfectly and there was no way of knowing who was who in the room. But in the first couple of songs you started to see Yann take the lead and play the keys to perfection. We had a great conversation during the interview, and from that point, he couldn’t have been more obviously Yann Tiersen. It’s really an amazing thing when a composer and musician can pull off that kind of ambient, emotional music live... in a small room, early in the morning, with an idiot Morning Show host no less!
