KEXP is proud to premiere the new video from rising roots-rock icon James Apollo. Apollo has a new release out now called Little War, Little Less, and this video is for the last track on the album, “The Days.” As Apollo’s drummer tells the story, most of these songs were first sketched in complete isolation in the canyons of Utah. A heavy-hearted sense of isolation echoes through this song, as Apollo quietly croons “It’s not the nights, but it’s the days.” The song builds and builds until the whole band is howling along.
In an appropriate video counterpart, James and his band jam in a small, dirty barn surrounded with beautiful trees and articles of the past. It’s fitting too - the whole new record was recorded in a barn in the Cascades. As the band plays, various circular images are spliced in with a dizzying effect. The contrast between organic and produced creates a contemplative experience for one of the best tracks on Little War, Little Less. Check it out below:
