The lineup for the 2012 Iceland Airwaves festival just keeps getting better and better! As if the bands already announced weren’t good enough -- Dirty Projectors, Daughter, Exitmusic, Poliça, Sigur Ros -- 20 more bands have been added to the roster, including local artists Shabazz Palaces and THEESatisfaction, who continue the ongoing bond between Iceland and Seattle. Also added to the 2012 lineup are KEXP favs The Barr Brothers and darkly aggro post-punk vets Swans, as well as a heap more great Iceland bands like Sudden Weather Change and HAM.

I’m heading to Reykjavik tomorrow (if Hurricane Sandy cooperates) and am looking for a little help with my Airwaves music choices. Does anyone have enough knowledge of the acts to know which might be metal bands? I’m excited to hear as many as I can (and Dirty Projectors), but I lean toward the heavier stuff and any help would be much appreciated!
