Tuesday Music News

  • Rising electro pop star MNDR has released a new tune from her upcoming album Feed Me Diamonds, out August 14. The follow up to “#1 In Heaven” is called “Faster Horses”, and it is every bit as danceable as the first, if not more so. On this one, MNDR completely embraces modern house and dance and brings all the super positive energy that’s been resonating through all of her work thus far. The single officially drops next Tuesday, July 17, but until then, listen to the awesome new track over at Pitchfork.
  • Trent Reznor dropped all kinds of news today that will make those (like me) who’ve been religiously following his recent work squirm. Reznor will add to his soundtrack portfolio a theme song for the new Call of Duty video game, Call of Duty: Black Ops II. This isn’t Reznor’s first outing with games though - he did the soundtrack for Quake back in the mid 1990s (remember all those NIN nail boxes everywhere?). In addition, Reznor has dropped some news concerning the How To Destroy Angels project with Atticus Ross and his wife Mariqueen Maandig (of West Indian Girl). Reznor claims that “a different type of distribution” is slowing the release of the new album down. Supposedly, the release of the new album will feature a stream of new music, video, and other mediums. Sounds like he’s making the wait worthwhile. He’s also writing new material for Nine Inch Nails, too!

  • The Killers are finally back at it! New album Battle Born comes out September 17, but they’ve debuted the first single today, entitled “Runaways”. In typical Killers fashion, Springstein oozes from this soaring track. Brandon Flowers writes another ballad of love and loss, balancing the emotional stipulations of running away from society and running away from commitment. If you like the Killers, “Runaways” will not disappoint. Listen below:

  • Brooklyn rapper Danny Brown and beat shaman AraabMuzik are teaming up for a single called “Molly Ringwald”. It will be out on 7″ and digitally July 17th. We can only expect greatness from this.
