Fitz and the Tantrums have garnered quite the reputation for themselves the past couple of years as the suited champions of indie-soul. Led by frontman Michael Fitzpatrick (FItz) and his crystal-clear voice, the Tantrums are a powerful group of musicians with impressive resumes crafting a distinct sound and looking cool doing it. Combining pop sensibilities with crisp rhythms and sultry horn blasts, their infectious sound has helped launched them to stardom, touring with Maroon 5 and performing with Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings as well several live television performances, all the while adorned in incredibly dapper suits. The L.A. six piece stopped by the KEXP studio in January to show that their addicting sound is just as cool in jeans and a hoodie, proving that they’re not just the next group of twenty-somethings wearing ties.
Check out their KEXP live in-studio performance from earlier this year below, and be sure to catch Fitz and the Tantrums live during KEXP’s broadcast from the Capitol Hill Block Party on Friday, July 20. Tickets are available for the Block Party are available here.
