Today‚Äôs selection, featured on the Afternoon Show with Kevin Cole, is “Failed Olympic Bid” by Future of the Left from the 2012 album The Plot Against Common Sense on Xtra Mile Recordings.

Future of the Left - Failed Olympic Bid (MP3)

If the media hasn’t gotten you revved up for the upcoming London Olympics, then maybe Future of the Left can offer a fresh, more cynical, perspective. Upon the breakup of Mclusky, that British indie-noise band that brought such greats as Do Dallas, Jack William Egglestone and Andrew Falkous teamed up with former Jarcrew member Kelson Mathias and kept on with the dry Welsh wit and equally penetrating, sadistic rock as Future of the Left. After the departure of Kelson Mathias, Jimmy Watkins and bassist Julia Ruzicka from Million Dead hopped on board to fill the void, and Future of the Left started recording their third, and long awaited, LP.

Still rowdily ripping apart pop culture and politics all the same, on today’s featured song, Future of the Left zeroes in on the upcoming London Olympics with their heavy-handed, driving music soaked in sarcasm, unpretentious rocking, and a biting sense of humor. Unless you’ll be in the UK or Croatia this summer, you’re probably going to miss out on seeing FOTL play one of their unforgettable and often sweaty live shows. Keep checking their website for the day they come to your town so you won’t miss out. For now, here’s their video for today’s featured song:
