  • Chicago indie rock band The Sea and Cake have announced a new record and released its first single. Runner is out September 18 on Thrill Jockey Records, and the band will tour shortly after that. Their tour will include a stop in Seattle on November 3 at the Crocodile. The new single “Harps” is an ethereal mixture of electronic and organic channeled into a seriously beautiful tune. • If you were at The xx show last night and caught the wonderful set by Jacques Greene, then you’ll be happy to know that his new track “Ready” has been named Best New Music by Pitchfork. His Ready EP is out now and features a wonderful UK bass and electronic sound along the lines of Burial, Four Tet, and Jamie xx. Listen to “Ready” below:

  • It’s been quite a while, but Pinback has finally announced an LP follow-up to 2007’s Autumn Of The Seraphs. On October 16, Information Retrieved will hit shelves. Not much information has been released thus far, but it will be interesting to see what time and experience have done to shape this duo’s sound over 5 years.
  • Crystal Castles just released their throbbing new single “Plague”, but today, they’ve announced that the rest of the album will be out in September and that a tour will subsequently follow. They will be joined on tour by noise-rock superstars HEALTH and will be in Seattle October 25 at Showbox Sodo. Mark your calendars!
