With the opening ceremony kicking off the London 2012 Summer Olympics this afternoon, it’s time once again for a month of obsessively watching events you likely have little or no understanding of for no other reason than a sense of patriotic pride and a fascination with high performance athletes. But as the fine folks over at Consequence of Sound have pointed out, the majority Olympic soundtracks are not something you would ever actually want to listen to unless you actually really hate music. To help you enjoy your marathon Olympics viewing sessions we’ve created our very own London 2012 KEXP mixtape inspired (sort of) by some of our favorite events.
Enjoy!
