  • Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth has joined the black metal band Twilight and will help record their next album. Guitarist and vocalist Blake Judd has been a long time fan of Moore’s work and has stated his excitement in several interviews. No dates have yet been announced for when the record is due out, but keep your eyes open.
  • Bloc Party has released a second tune from upcoming album Four, called “Day Four”. Where “Octopus” relied on a sporadic thrashing hook and lots of change-ups, “Day Four” is a beautiful slow build tune. It’s all about the emotion on this one, but that doesn’t mean that it’s boring. Three minutes in, the guitar changes to an arpeggio reminiscent of Bloc Party classic “Tulips”. All in all, I’d say that Four is 2 for 2 so far. Four is out August 21 on Frenchkiss.

  • 1980’s gods The Cult, The Mission, and Killing Joke are slated to tour together through England this September. But unfortunately, the tour might be put on hold. Lead singer of Killing Joke Jaz Coleman has gone missing and bandmates are concerned for his welfare. After posting a very odd cancellation of the tour on Facebook, in which he bashed The Cult and The Mission outright, the singer went completely AWOL. The rest of Killing Joke has sent out another post saying that the dates are not actually cancelled, but that Coleman is nowhere to be found. Certainly, this is an odd debacle for these heroes of post-punk.
  • Hot Chip has been getting some pretty big names to remix In Our Heads single “Look At Where We Are”, and the latest addition is no exception. British electronic legend Four Tet has taken a run at the tune and created possibly the best rework yet. Listen to the 7 and a half minute wonder below:
