All right snarky commenters and music critics, let’s get this out of the way: The Grizzled Mighty sound a lot like The White Stripes. They even look like The White Stripes, if The White Stripes looked like they just returned from spending several years in the wilderness. That said, The White Stripes were an awesome band, and so are The Grizzled Mighty, bringing their own blend of unrefined rock and roll without sacrificing their undeniably raw talent. The Seattle duo, composed of guitarist and vocalist Ryan Granger, who also plays in the local band Fox and the Law, and drummer Whitney Petty, formerly a guitarist for Deerhunter, released their first self-released and self-titled album (available for free download over at Bandcamp) early last year and have tearing up the local rock scene ever since with their pounding beats and overdriven guitars dripping with blues.
