Formerly a guitarist for Boston band Apollo Sunshine, Sean Aylward broke away and headed west. Soon, his intended solo project grew into a full trio after an impromptu jam session with fellow Boston musicians Mike Silva and Mike Sarno in Baja, Mexico. Now, based in Santa Monica, CA, with Silva on drums and Sarno on bass, Hello Echo (yes, the name come from an Airplane quote) combines East Coast sensibility with a laid back West Coast style.
Closing our first day of broadcast at Doug Fir during MFNW, Hello Echo performed a spirited set beginning with “The Coming Days,” a tune we’ve featured before as a podcast, and other songs from their debut LP. The set closed with a pair of tracks from their brand new EP, Coffee Cups. After hearing this set, you’ll want to put more of Hello Echo on repeat.
